Bourne fifth at University Games
Aiea’s Tri Bourne and teammate Will Montgomery finished fifth in men’s beach volleyball last week at the University Games in Kazan, Russia.
Bourne (AOP/USC) and Montgomery of UC Irvine went 6-2 in the tournament. They lost to Russia’s Konstantin Semenov and Yaroslav Koshkarev 21-17, 21-7 in the quarterfinals.
Deadlines for Tinman entries this week
Registration for the July 28 Tinman triathlon are due Wednesday for mail-in entries, Saturday for online entries and Sunday for walk-in entries.
Fees are $105 per individual and $135 for a three-person team. Walk-in entries will be accepted at The Bike Shop at 1149 South King St.
The event begins at 5:45 a.m. at San Souci Beach. The course includes a 750-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run.

Hawaii players going to Area Code games
Four Hawaii players will compete in the New Balance Area Code Baseball Games in Long Beach, Calif., Aug. 5-10.
Dylan Combs, KJ Harrison and Kodi Medeiros will be on the Cincinnati Reds team, and Christian Donahue will be on the New York Yankees team.
While at the eight-team tournament, the players will be evaluated by scouts from Major League Baseball teams.
