Search called off for kayaker missing off Kawaihae Harbor
Hawaii County firefighters have called off their search for a 66-year-old man who went missing after apparently becoming separated from his kayak Thursday morning.
The man’s kayak was found approximately 300 yards north of the Kawaihae Harbor mouth, about 50 yards offshore. The man was known to frequent the area on his kayak.
The three-day search involved air, land and sea personnel. The search was called off after consultation with the missing man’s family.
