Three leading lights in Hawaii’s night life and music scene debuted new blogs this month on Honolulu Pulse, Hawaii’s top online source for entertainment and food coverage. The blogs appear weekly on the Honolulu Star-Advertiser-run website, which was recognized by Editor & Publisher as one of the best entertainment sites in the nation two years running.
» "Heels & Picks": Erin Smith, lead singer of the Maui-based band The Throwdowns, shares her latest adventures on Tuesdays. Armed with her signature red lipstick, high heels, faux fur, Steven Tyler-esque scarves and trusty guitar, Smith, who now lives in Kailua, provides an inside look at the local music industry and offers her own take on the fashion and style trends.
» "SuperCity": Christa Wittmier, who has written about Honolulu’s nightlife since 2004, takes readers behind the velvet rope and into the VIP section to tell the stories of nightclub royalty and what’s new on the scene. She is senior marketing director at Young’s Market Co. of Hawaii and executive director of music for POW! WOW! Hawaii. In addition, Wittmier helps produce the popular "Bacardi Pool Party" at various hotel pools in Waikiki. Look for new blog posts on Wednesdays.
» "On the Record": Kalani Wilhelm covers the local party scene and the DJs who keep dance floors moving. The Maui High School graduate studied journalism at University of Hawaii at Manoa. His blog also appears Wednesdays.
The addition of Smith, Wittmier and Wilhelm brings the total number of Pulse bloggers to more than a dozen. The weekly lineup includes: "Try Wait‚" by Star-Advertiser music writer Gary Chun (Mondays); "Truth from Dare‚" by Derin Derego (Thursdays); "Social Encore‚" by Jermel-Lynn Quillopo (Thursdays); "Freestyle‚" by TGIF Editor Elizabeth Kieszkowski (Fridays); and "Five-0 Redux‚" by Wendie Burbridge (Saturdays).
