A large earthquake near the Mariana Islands and Guam did not generate a Pacific-wide tsunami, officials in Hawaii said Tuesday night.

The U.S. Geological Survey estimated the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.7. Initial estimates pegged the magnitude at 7.1.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center on Oahu said the quake was too deep below the ocean to generate a destructive tsunami.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday at the epicenter (8:14 p.m. Tuesday in Hawaii.) It was centered 27 miles northwest of Piti Village, Guam, at an estimated depth of 84.5 miles, according to the USGS.

The Pacific Daily News reported that most southern villages with power outages had it restored within a few hours. The newspaper reported that power is out at Mount Santa Rosa, Yigo.

No injuries have been reported, and there are no reports of damage to roads or bridges. Asan-Maina’s mayor reported broken glass in the village, and the mayor of Inarajan reported a transformer down.
