Hawaii gets hit hard early in 9-3 loss to LMU

Ryan Erickson’s bases-clearing double punctuated a seven-run second inning as Loyola Marymount made quick work of Hawaii in a 9-3 nonconference win on Wednesday at Page Stadium in Los Angeles.

Three Hawaii pitchers combined to allow nine runs over the first two innings in the Rainbow Warriors’ final game before opening Big West play on Friday at UC Irvine.

UH will carry a 9-16 record into conference play which is the second-worst among Big West teams.

Kaeo Aliviado drove in two runs with a single in the seventh inning, scored the other run in the fourth inning and made three diving catches in centerfield.

Marcus Doi drove in Aliviado with an RBI single.

Andrew Jones (0-3) walked two, allowed two runs and gave up two hits in the first inning to earn the loss.

Juliene Jones recorded only one out and gave up four runs on two hits and two walks and Alex Hatch surrendered three hits and issued a walk in 2/3 innings against the Lions (14-11).

Jacob Sheldon-Collins went 2-for-4 with a run scored for Hawaii, which had 11 hits.

Five pitchers held LMU scoreless over the final six innings.
