Former Oahu circuit court probation officer charged with theft, forgery
A 56-year-old former Oahu circuit court probation officer was charged Monday with theft and forgery, the Attorney General’s Office announced Monday.
Freeman Sasao was charged with one count of felony theft and 11 counts of felony forgery.
Sasao allegedly collected 11 payments from various probationers assigned to him, from July 1, 2011 through July 9, 2013, and kept the payments for his own use, the Department of the Attorney General said in a news release.
Each felony charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
Sasao’s arraignment and plea are scheduled Thursday before Judge Richard Perkins
