Swimmers rescued from the ocean Monday in Honolulu
Two men were pulled from the ocean off South Shore beaches in critical condition Monday afternoon.
A man believed to be in his 60s was in critical condition after he was found unresponsive in the water off Ala Moana Beach Park on Monday afternoon.
A swimmer and a surfer brought the man to shore, where lifeguards performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The man was transported in critical condition to a hospital.
The incident occurred just 75 minutes after a 69-year-old man was pulled unconscious from the water off Waikiki Beach. That man was also taken in critical condition to an area hospital.
According to an Emergency Medical Services report, the man was not breathing and did not have a pulse when he was pulled from the water by lifeguards at about 2:15 p.m.
Lifeguards performed CPR on the man, who subsequently regained a pulse and started breathing again.
Emergency Medical Services personnel assumed care upon their arrival and took the man to a hospital.
