The hospitality company named for famed American band leader and TV personality Lawrence Welk plans a beach resort on Kauai.

A company statement trumpeting the promotion of Jon Fredricks as president and chief executive officer indicates the company’s future properties include a ski resort in Colorado as well as the Kauai property, the latter to open in 2018.

No other details were immediately available.

Welk Resorts operates resort properties in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Lake Tahoe, San Diego and Palm Springs, Calif., and Branson, Mo., and is part of the Interval International group of time share properties.
