Hurricane Vance is holding its strength but is expected to be weakening very soon, according to the National Hurricane Center.

MIAMI >> Hurricane Vance is maintaining its strength in the Pacific off Mexico’s coast.

The hurricane’s maximum sustained winds Monday morning remain near 105 mph. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Vance is expected to start weakening later in the day.

The hurricane is centered about 490 miles west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving north-northwest near 12 mph.

The Hurricane Center says swells generated by Vance are expected to begin affecting parts of Mexico’s southwestern coast and Baja California in a day or two. Those swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
