A 73-year-old family doctor entered a plea of not guilty Monday morning in Circuit Court to multiple charges of sexual assault who was already facing three counts of sexual assault involving three female patients, including a minor girl.

Donald Nicol will face four counts of first-degree sexual assault involving a 12-year-old girl; two counts of second-degree sexual assault involving a 21-year-old woman; and two counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault involving a 19-year-old woman when goes to trial the week of Dec. 22. The two women are sisters.

Nicol is free after posting bail of $750,000. 

He did not make a statement after his Circuit Court arraignment.

However, at after an earlier District Court hearing last month his lawyer Brook Hart said Nicol denies that the doctor touched anyone improperly and that touching females for examination is part of Nicol’s job.

Nicol, who has offices in Kahaluu and Niu Valley Shopping Center, has been a doctor since he graduated from University of Hawaii Medical School in 1978 and did his residency at Queen’s Medical Center.

Nicol practiced law in Hawaii after graduating from Stanford Law School in 1967 and Princeton University. Nicol is listed as an inactive member of the Hawaii State Bar Association in its directory.

An Oahu grand jury on Oct. 14, said the alleged sexual assaults involving the 12-year-old girl happened between August 2011 and July 19, while the sexual assaults involving the two sisters happened between September 2011 and Sept. 13.
