On a trip to Florence, Italy, last fall, the Murata family met Vetulio Bondi, left, a gelato shop owner who collects aloha shirts. As proof, Bondi showed the Hawaii family a picture of his collection of about 25 aloha shirts. “On our last night in Florence, he wore an aloha shirt, and we brought him a box of Hawaiian Host Macadamia Nut Chocolates,” said Kent Murata, who took a photo of his son, Kevin, and Bondi flashing shaka signs.
