Flood advisory extended for Oahu
The National Weather Service has extended the flood advisory for Oahu after a radar showed heavy rain over central and west parts of the island around 2:54 p.m. Tuesday.
The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. and includes Kaena Point, Mokuleia, Makua Valley, Waialua, Wahiawa, Makaha, and Waianae.
Overnight, heavy rains prompted a flood advisory for Kauai. But the rains moved offshore by about 8 a.m.
Lihue set a high temperature record for Monday’s date. The high of 89 degrees breaks a record of 88 set in 2012. It was the 16th day of record high temperatures in the state since Sept. 17.
Forecasters say the rains and clouds should clear over leeward sections in time for the lunar eclipse late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. But some clouds may linger over windward areas into the early morning.
A change in the weather is forecast to begin Wednesday as light tradewinds return and the weather system bringing instability leaves.
