Ghosts, goblins and Minnie Mouse
Get ready: The little ghosts and goblins will be coming out Friday, and with Halloween abutting the weekend, they’re sure to be out in full force. The weather forecast seems to have improved from a day or so ago, with some morning showers giving way to a mostly clear night.
Get out the candy and turn on the porch light.
One website tried to quantify the most popular costumes in each state by breaking down the most frequently searched costumes online. It came up with these top-three popular terms nationally: Katniss (Everdeen, no doubt, of "The Hunger Games"), Black Widow and banana.
In Hawaii, it was Minnie Mouse — though parents with little girls would likely bet on Elsa or Anna. We’ll see soon enough.

Could the tide be turning at the Honolulu Police Department?
As evidence that it has, a police officer suspected in a domestic abuse case has been arrested and charged, scheduled to appear in District Court Nov. 5, just like anyone in similar circumstances.
This follows public criticism over the low-key initial response when Sgt. Darren Cachola was accused, but not indicted, in that high-profile domestic case. And the latest case happened even without video evidence in hand. So that’s encouraging.
