Chaminade women score win on road
The Chaminade women’s soccer team beat Holy Names 2-0 in Oakland, Calif., on Tuesday, the program’s first win outside of Hawaii.
Twyla Hamasaki and Mary-Lynn Johannes scored for the Silverswords and keeper Lauren Ishii only needed to make a single save. Chaminade improves to 1-3 (1-0 PacWest), Holy Names dropped to 0-5 and 0-1.
The Chaminade men’s team added a little bit more history for the school, beating Holy Names 3-2.
It is the first time since the program began in 2006 that both squads won on the same day. Austin Bush, Lukas Pousset and Colton Gallt scored for the Silverswords (2-3, 1-0). Holy Names fell to 2-5 and 0-1.
Both Chaminade teams will face Dominican on Thursday.
HPU men fall to Sonoma State
Christopher Galang scored in the 87th minute but the Hawaii Pacific men’s soccer team lost to Sonoma State 2-1 in the first game of a road trip.
The Sharks (2-3-1) enjoyed a 15-12 advantage in shots but came up short against the Seawolves (5-2).
Hawaii Pacific starts its conference season on Thursday against Academy of Art in San Francisco.
