City IDs man who died after ocean incident
The city Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday identified a 56-year-old man who died Saturday after being pulled from the water off the Heeia Boat Ramp.
The medical examiner identified him as Thomas Zelko of Kailua. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his death.
A private boat brought Zelko to the pier after he collapsed in the water.
CPR was being administered when firefighters arrived at 4:26 p.m.
Paramedics took Zelko in extremely critical condition to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police classified the case as an unattended death, pending the results of the autopsy.
1 inmate on the lam, 1 returns to OCCC
An Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate who failed to return from a scheduled work furlough is back in custody.
Isaiah Kaisa, 27, turned himself in at 3 p.m. Monday after failing to return from a work furlough early Sunday morning.
Kaisa is serving time for forgery, identity theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and a firearm violation. He was scheduled for a parole hearing in June.
The department says Kaisa will now face an escape charge.
Another inmate, William Williams, 51, failed to return to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center at 4:30 a.m. Monday.
He is described as 6 feet 5 inches tall, 205 pounds, with light brown hair and blue eyes.
Williams is serving time for theft and violation of a protection order, and his next parole hearing is scheduled for October.
