Beeman being considered for Utah hoops job
University of Hawaii women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman is being considered for the head coaching job at Utah, according to an online report and confirmed by a source to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
The website SwishAppeal.com reported that Beeman, Fresno State coach Jaime White and Pacific coach Lynne Roberts are the finalists for the job.
Beeman did not immediately respond to requests for comment, though the source said Beeman is indeed on the short list of candidates for the Pac-12 post.
Anthony Levrets was fired in early March after five seasons at Utah. He went 9-21 in his final season, and 78-87 overall while making $313,183 per season.
Beeman, the Big West Coach of the Year, was recently extended by UH through 2017. She was given what was described as a “slight bump” from her annual salary of $130,000.
UH qualified for the WNIT in each of Beeman’s first three seasons.
