Heavy rain prompts flood advisory for East Oahu
Heavy rain has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory for Oahu.
The Oahu advisory is in effect until 10:30 p.m. and could be extended, the weather service said.
At 7:30 p.m., radar showed a heavy, nearly stationary rainstorm in Hawaii Kai.
Other locations in the advisory include Waimanalo, Maunawili and Kailua, the agency said.
The weather service is advising the public to stay away from steams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff may also cause hazardous driving conditions.
