National park in Maine raises fees
BAR HARBOR, Maine » Fees at Maine’s only national park are going up this season.
After a six-year moratorium, the federal government is increasing the price of admission at some of its public lands and raising the fees charged for camping, boating and other activities.
Effective May 1, Acadia National Park anticipates that the fee for a seven-day vehicle park pass will increase to $25 from $20; the annual park pass will increase to $50 from $40; and a seven-day individual pass will increase to $12 from $5. A spokeswoman says camping fees will go up but are not yet final.
Only about a third of the 400-plus properties within the National Park Service system charge an entrance fee.

The show has been limping along ever since it opened in January.
Harlem to host arts fair in May
NEW YORK » FLUX Art Fair is coming to Harlem.
Billed as the neighborhood’s first contemporary arts fair, it will feature works by both local and international artists.
It will be held May 14-17 at the historic Corn Exchange building, recently reborn as a retail and office space.
The theme of the fair is "the 21st century artist as a nomad."
More than 50 emerging artists have been selected to participate by guest curators or through a juried process.
FLUX Art grew out of Art in Flux, created in 2012 to give artists opportunities to present their work in underutilized retail spaces.
