Silverswords sign soccer recruits
Jake Brady signed a National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Chaminade, coach Zach Kingsley announced on Friday.
Brady, a senior defender from Portland, Ore., helped lead Jesuit High School to the 2013 6A State Championship.
He joins Tyler Morton of Moanalua in Chaminade’s 2015 recruiting class.
On the women’s side, coach Michelle Richardson announced the signing of Alyssa Tanigawa.
Tanigawa, a senior defender from Castle, was a two-time All-OIA first-team selection. She joins a six-player 2015 recruiting class that includes Brandee Lane (Castle), Megan Mararagan (Kalani), Jordan Taboniar (Kamehameha), Caitlyn Tatemichi (Roosevelt) and Nicole DeBoer (Burlington-Edison High in Washington).
UH Hilo baseball team drops a pair
The Hawaii Hilo baseball team fell 5-3 and 11-0 on Friday at California Baptist University in Riverside, Calif.
Bryon Freitas went 2-for-3 in the first game with a double and two RBIs. Game 2 featured two more hits by Freitas, who raised his batting average to .327 on the season.
The Vulcans (6-24, 4-19 PacWest) continue their road trip and will head to Oahu to begin a six-game series against Hawaii Pacific with a doubleheader on Friday.
