Man found facedown in sea is hospitalized
A 32-year-old surfer was in critical condition Thursday after he was found floating facedown in the water off Waikiki Beach.
Emergency Medical Services said the man had been surfing when he was found about noon 75 yards from shore in front of the Duke Kahanamoku statue. The man’s surfboard leash was detached from his ankle, EMS reported.
The surfer’s friend brought him close to shore, and lifeguards took over, brought him to shore and began CPR, EMSsaid. When paramedics arrived they took over treatment and transported the man to a hospital.
Attempted gun sale results in an arrest
Police arrested a 39-year-old man who allegedly tried to sell a firearm at a Kalihi bus stop Wednesday.
A witness flagged down a police officer after the man allegedly offered to sell the weapon to the witness at a North King Street bus stop at 6:30 a.m. The man was arrested on suspicion of two firearm violations and two drug violations.
