Man overboard spurs search of ocean
The Coast Guard and Hawaii County Fire Department searched Wednesday for a 65-year-old man who apparently fell off his boat early that morning near Pohoiki Bay.
Charles Rosecranes was last seen at 1 a.m. when he fell overboard from a 15-foot outboard skiff he and his friend had been operating.
A Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane crew and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point searched by air for Rosecranes.
The crew of the 110-foot Coast Guard cutter Kiska, home-ported in Hilo, and crews from the Hawaii Fire Department joined the search.
Rosecranes is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue-and-white pinstripe shirt, raincoat, pants and rubber boots.
Jumper rescued from sea near lookout
A 26-year-old man was reported in critical condition after jumping off Lanai Lookout on Wednesday morning, according to Emergency Medical Services.
After the man jumped off Lanai Lookout, Ocean Safety lifeguards found him submerged in 40 feet of water at about 10:50 a.m. and rescued him. He was brought to Sandy Beach, from where paramedics transported him to a hospital.
Man hospitalized by China Walls incident
A 33-year-old man was helped in by witnesses and Ocean Safety officials Wednesday morning after getting in trouble at the China Walls surfing spot in Maunalua Bay, Emergency Medical Services said.
EMS spokeswoman Shayne Enright said there were no witnesses to say how the man ended up in the water about 11:30 a.m. The man was treated and transported by paramedics to a hospital in critical condition, EMS said.
Pearl City man allegedly made threat
A 34-year-old Pearl City man was arrested Tuesday morning after he allegedly pointed a weapon at a motorist following what police described as a "road rage" incident.
Police arrested the suspect at 6:45 a.m. on Hoona Place in Pearl City on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening. Police did not release other details.
