Elton John will perform in Honolulu on Jan. 10 on the heels of a New Year’s Eve concert in Brooklyn, N.Y., and as he prepares to kick off his three-year "Million Dollar Piano" tour in Las Vegas.
Tickets for his one show at Blaisdell Arena run from $35.50 to $159.50 and will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets, or by calling 800-745-3000.
The flamboyant performer will bring his piano and band to Honolulu, including original members Davey Johnstone (guitar) and Nigel Olsson (drums), along with Matt Bissonette (bass), John Mahon (percussion) and Kim Bullard (keyboards).
The 67-year-old John’s most recent album, "The Diving Board," produced by T-Bone Burnett, was released in 2013. His first, "Empty Sky," came out in 1969.
John played his first concert in Hawaii at what was then called the HIC Arena with Kiki Dee on May 1, 1971. He has returned over the years for more than a dozen shows with Hawaii promoter Tom Moffatt. John’s most recent concerts on Oahu took place Jan. 6 and 7, 2012.
He is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time, with 35 gold and 25 platinum albums and 29 consecutive Top 40 hits. He has sold more than 250 million records worldwide and holds the record for the biggest-selling single of all time, "Candle in the Wind ’97," which sold 37 million copies.
He also holds the record for most appearances on Billboard’s adult contemporary chart, with his newest single, "Home Again," marking his 69th entry.
