Fire destroys half of two-story house on Hawaii island
Fire destroyed half of a two-story house in Pahoa on Wednesday afternoon.
Hawaii County firefighters responded to the 2:24 p.m. alarm, arriving 2:38 p.m., at 13-784 Pohoiki Road to find the first floor fully engulfed in flames, a fire report said.
Residents were not home at the time.
The fire was brought under control at 2:55 p.m. and extinguished at 3:05 p.m.
The fire caused an estimated $135,000 in damage to the home, which was valued at about $270,000.
