Visitor rescued after nearly drowning
Honolulu firefighters and paramedics responded to a report of a near drowning in the ocean off the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki on Tuesday morning.
A 39-year-old man visiting from Chicago was brought to shore unconscious near the Hau Tree Bar at 10:14 a.m., emergency officials said.
Paramedics and firefighters treated the man.
An Emergency Medical Services report said the man was conscious when paramedics took him in serious condition to a hospital.
Shooting yields arrest of Wahiawa man
Police arrested a 33-year-old Wahiawa man Tuesday in connection with a shooting Saturday in Mililani.
The suspect was arrested at the Wahiawa police station at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday on suspicion of a weapon violation and being a felon in possession of firearms.
Homicide detectives initially classified the case as a second-degree attempted murder investigation.
Police said the victim reported being shot in the chest by a man with a silver semi-automatic handgun at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Paramedics took him in serious condition from Kealakaa Street and Lanikuhana Avenue to a hospital, Emergency Medical Services reported.
The 35-year-old victim declined to press charges.
Woman suffers leg injury at Makapuu
A woman was injured after being swept from rocks by a wave Tuesday at the tide pools at Makapuu.
Emergency Medical Services personnel said the incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m. and that the woman, 41, suffered a leg injury. Her condition was reported as serious.
