Notre Dame de Namur tops Hawaii Hilo
Jack Ewert scored in the 63rd minute as Notre Dame de Namur edged Hawaii Hilo 1-0 in a PacWest Conference men’s soccer match in Belmont, Calif., on Monday.
Ewert’s goal came off assists from Andy Sandoval and Oscar Ledesma, improving the Argonauts’ record to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. UHH is 2-4, 0-3.
Garcia, Buescheroff earn men’s honors
Hawaii Pacific senior forward Brais Garcia and Chaminade freshman keeper Bernd Buescheroff received PacWest Conference honors in men’s soccer.
Garcia, of Madrid, was named co-Player of the Week along with Azusa Pacific’s Keenan Ambrust. Garcia scored twice in a 4-1 victory at Academy of Art and scored the second goal in a 3-2 win at Notre Dame de Namur. He leads the PacWest with seven goals.
Buescheroff, of Steinfeld, Germany, was named Freshman of the Week. He earned his second shutout at Dominican, making six saves in the 1-0 overtime win. He had nine saves against Fresno Pacific, the top offensive team in the PacWest. He leads the PacWest in save percentage (.816).

UH Hilo holds on for 2-1 victory
Kristine Pasek (27th minute) and Kassandr Talamantez (46th) scored goals to stake Hawaii Hilo (5-1-2, 2-0) to an early lead en route to a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame de Namur (2-6, 0-2) in Belmont, Calif., on Monday.
Hamasaki earns soccer honor
Chaminade junior forward Twyla Hamasaki was named the PacWest women’s soccer Player of the Week for her three-goal performance in two matches last week.
Hamasaki, an ‘Iolani alumna, scored the opening goal in a 2-0 triumph over Holy Names and then scored twice in a 2-0 win over Dominican.
