UH strength clinic begins Friday
The University of Hawaii’s sixth annual Hawaii Strength Coaches Clinic runs Friday and Saturday at the Manoa lower campus.
The walk-up cost for the clinic, covering 12 total hours starting at 6 p.m. Friday at the Alex Waterhouse Training Facility, is $140 for the general public, $50 for students and $120 for high school and youth coaches.
The purpose of the clinic is to "provide educational opportunities in sports performance for our local coaches, trainers, parents and fitness enthusiasts who contribute a tremendous amount of time and effort into their communities, schools, and student athletes," according to a UH flier.

UH men’s tennis team bounced by UCSB
The sixth-seeded Hawaii men’s tennis team lost to third-seeded UC Santa Barbara 4-0 in the first round of the Big West championships on Thursday in Indian Wells, Calif.
Hawaii’s Felix Albert and Chas Okamoto beat UCSB’s Morgan Mays and Andrew Riminton 7-5, but the Gauchos took the doubles point by winning the other two matches.
Albert, Marcel Chan and Joakim Pinola of the Rainbow Warriors were all swept in singles. The other three singles matches were abandoned.
Hawaii finished the season 6-14; UCSB improved to 13-9.
