Kauai police searching for extended furlough inmate escapee

Kauai police are searching for a 25-year-old extended furlough inmate who escaped from custody Tuesday night.

Tyson Yadao ran from his transitional home in Lihue at about 8:30 p.m., when Kauai Community Correctional Center adult corrections officers went to the home to bring him back to the facility. Kauai Police were then notified.

Extended furlough allows an inmate to live and work outside of the facility but the inmate must check in at KCCC at various times each week.

Yadao is 5-feet 9-inches, has brown hair and eyes and weighs 210 pounds. If seen, the public is urged to call 911.

Yadao was serving time for burglary, theft, forgery and assault against a law enforcement officer. Once returned, he will face an additional escape charge.
