2 women seriously injured after car crashes into building

Two women were transported to a trauma hospital after a vehicle rammed through the entrance of a veterinary clinic in Pearl City Sunday.

The crash occurred at about 12:23 p.m. at the Newtown Veterinary Clinic on Kuahao Place. Capt. James Todd, spokesman of the Honolulu Fire Department, said an elderly woman operating a vehicle accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and rammed through the clinic’s entrance.

Todd said the vehicle pinned two women, a receptionist and a technician, who were at the front desk.

The driver was shaken up by the accident. Todd said she didn’t suffer any injuries. The two clinic employees, ages 28 and 41, were transported to the hospital in serious condition.
