A defunct Waikiki liquor store was open Wednesday for an unusual sale: an auction of everything on its shelves.

The inventory of Posh Liquor at 159 Kaiulani Ave. was liquidated by Malama Auctions & Appraisals LLC in an event that ran more than eight hours and attracted a crowd of bidders in the store and online.

About 550 lots, some of which included multiple items each, were offered for sale and included spirits, wine, beer and other items such as lighters and cigar cases.

As of midafternoon, the most expensive items sold were a bottle of Hardy Diamond Noces cognac for $450 and a bottle of Camus Jubilee cognac that sold for the same price. At the low end, someone paid $4 for a bottle of Vincent Van Gogh Espresso Vodka.
