Evening of jazz and fashion

Hawaii Theatre Center will pre­sent a night of jazz and fashion with "Anne Namba Goes East With Paula West" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The fashion show of Asian-influenced couture by Anne Namba will be staged in a 1920s nightclub setting with jazz singer Paula West taking guests on a musical tour from New York to Shanghai to Hono­lulu.

Namba’s designs will be complemented by jewelry pieces from Anna Meng’s The Meng Dynasty collection, all in keeping with the theater’s May 9 Charlie Chan-themed gala, "Marquee Mystery: The House Without a Key."

Outfits and jewelry, including an assortment of headpieces, accessories and menswear, will be sold.

The event is a benefit for Hawaii Theatre Center. VIP tickets are $75, including a 5:30 p.m. reception and preferred seating. General admission is $35. Tickets are available at the theater box office by calling 528-0506 or visiting hawaiitheatre.com.

Get your goth on for prom

Miss Vamp Hawaii presents its fourth annual Goth Prom, "The Prom You Never Had," beginning 9 p.m. Saturday at Nextdoor, 43 N. Hotel St.

Dress in your best romantic goth, death rocker, rivet head, cyber goth, ethergoth, steampunk, punk, candy goth, goth-a-billy or vampire goth look. Just as at a traditional high school prom, the Goth Bat King and Queen will take the first dance. Four couples have been nominated for the honor, with final selection to take place by secret ballot by prom guests.

Dance to the music of goth/metal band Storm.

Cover is $5 before 10 p.m. and $10 afterward. Must be 18 or older.
