Schoolchildren feel sick from bleach

Ten students at Iroquois Point Elementary School reported being ill Tuesday from noxious fumes that turned out to be bleach.

Emergency Medical Services personnel said that at 11:34 a.m., 10 students between the ages of 9 and 11 were reported ill from an unknown substance that was later determined to be a liquid similar to Clorox-brand cleaner that had been used in a classroom.

The students were checked by paramedics, and there was no serious exposure to any hazardous substance.

None of the students were transported or received medical treatment.
