A 60-year-old Honolulu man is in critical condition after a crashing his empty tour bus into several utility poles in Kakaako early Saturday morning, officials said.

The commercial driver with Gray Line Hawaii, operated by Polynesian Adventure Tours, was heading east on Ala Moana Boulevard near Kamakee Street when the crash occurred at 4:15 a.m., police said.

A bystander called 911 and emergency crews took him to the Queen’s Medical Center.

Neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be contributing factors in the crash, according to police.
