Genevieve’s remnants bringing humidity and rains
The muggy, moist remnants of former Tropical Depression Genevieve are expected to bring humid weather and rains to Hawaii starting Thursday on the Big Island.
Unfavorable winds have weakened Genevieve into what forecasters call a post-tropical low.
Most of what’s left of Genevieve is expected to pass far south of the state and was 535 miles south southeast of Hilo at 11 a.m. Thursday moving west at 7 mph, with sustained winds of 35 mph.
But clouds from the northern edge of the system could be seen moving toward the Big Island on satellite images Thursday morning.
The storm should bring humidity and rain to the Big Island by Thursday night.
"Expect humidity will increase during the day Friday across the state as this moisture plume moves in. Along with the muggier conditions, there will be more clouds and showers, especially congregating along windward and mountain areas," forecasters said.

"Windward areas of the Big Island are looking at 1-3 inches of rainfall spread over the next 48 hours, mostly falling on Friday. Windward sides of the smaller islands are anticipating generally a half an inch to possibly as much as 2 inches; other areas, generally less than half an inch," forecasters said.
The muggy, rainy weather should pass by Saturday morning.
The forecast for Thursday calls for mostly sunny skies except for some windward and mauka showers and isolated leeward showers. Highs are expected to reach up to 89 degrees and winds are from the east at 15 mph with higher gusts.
