UH schools move up in the world
The University of Hawaii-Manoa medical and law schools soared in the latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report. The medical school ranked 19th for primary care medicine (tying with five other schools) and 74th for research (tied with one other school). That’s up from 57th and 78th place, respectively, last year.
The law school jumped 18 places to 82nd overall (tied with four other schools) and first in the diversity category, highlighting a strong mix of races and ethnicities among the student population.
The annual rankings gauge students’ overall experience using a variety of measures. It’s great to see the value of two prime UH graduate programs going up, up, up.
AG finds Cayetano case against PRP
Oh, there it is.
One can only imagine the confusion and scrambling that went on at the state Attorney General’s Office for the case file involving former Gov. Ben Cayetano’s complaint against the Pacific Resource Partnership’s political action committee.
On Tuesday, it was reported that an AG spokewoman said no such case has been received. This, despite Cayetano (rightly) saying that the case was in the AG’s hands. Then Thursday, the AG’s office said it does have the case after all; the state Campaign Spending Commission had indeed sent the two-complaint case over, way back in November.
So for four months, presumbly, this has been languishing. Now, let’s hope more diligence will be brought to bear in investigating the complaints for possible criminal violations in the 2012 mayoral campaign.
