Free couponing workshops that offer tips on how to save money on groceries will be held Sept. 9 on Oahu and Sept. 10 on Kauai.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is sponsoring two sessions on Oahu — 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. — at Pearl Country Club, 98-535 Kaonohi St. in Aiea. The other Smart Shopper event will be at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall at 4191 Hardy St. in Lihue.

Maryann Collier, who has appeared on TLC’s "Extreme Couponing" television show, will be the speaker. Collier, a mother of five, began couponing in 2008 after her husband was laid off the same day they bought a house. "I became so good that I was feeding our family of seven for $25 a week," she said.
