Hawaii sweeps Long Beach State in men’s volleyball
Sophomore hitter Kupono Fey put down a a match-high 12 kills and No. 6 Hawaii won its sixth straight Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match, sweeping No. 10 Long Beach State 25-17, 27-25, 25-19 Saturday night at Long Beach, Calif.
The victory moved the Rainbow Warriors (13-3, 10-2) into a second-place tie with No. 4 BYU (13-3, 10-2), a half-game behind MPSF leader and third-ranked UC Irvine (16-3, 11-2).
Fey hit a career-high .556. Senior opposite Brook Sedore and senior middle Taylor Averill both added nine kills for Hawaii, which hosts No. 5 Pepperdine (13-2, 9-2) next Friday and Sunday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Dan Glamack led the 49ers (8-8, 5-6) with 11 kills.
