Man’s death ruled accidental drowning
An autopsy of a 55-year-old man pulled from waters off Turtle Beach on Thursday evening confirmed that he died from accidental drowning, according to the city Medical Examiner’s Office.
The case previously was classified an unattended death.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was found shortly after 6 p.m. He was transported in critical condition to a hospital, where he later died.
Missionary charged in assault of teen girl
A 26-year-old missionary from the Philippines who was reported missing in Honolulu on Jan. 30 has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
Kristina Angeles was reported missing after failing to return to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in Waipahu on Jan. 30.
Angeles, whose visa was set to expire in April, was arrested at the Pearl City police station Thursday morning. She was charged that evening with one count of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of third-degree sexual assault. Her aggregate bail was set at $75,000.
The assaults allegedly occurred between Nov. 1 and 30.
Inmate on furlough is accused of burglary
An Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate was charged Thursday with committing a burglary while he was supposed to be on a work furlough.
Inmate Andrew Kaoihana, 54, and Shawn Kekumu, 49, who did not give police an address, were found inside of a business near the airport Tuesday with burglary tools, according to a police report.
Kaoihana, who was eligible for a parole hearing in May, is charged with second-degree burglary. His bail is $75,000. Kaoihana is serving time for burglary, drug and theft charges and has been convicted numerous times for burglary and theft. Kekumu is charged with second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and being in possession of burglary tools. His bail is $40,000.
