The Pentagon has announced several changes in Army leaders at Fort Shafter and Camp Smith.
Maj. Gen. Edward Dorman III assumed command Wednesday of the 8th Theater Sustainment Command, the Army logistics unit, based at Fort Shafter, that covers more than 9,000 miles of the Pacific. Its more than 8,000 soldiers provide military police and explosive ordnance disposal as well as watercraft, engineer and transportation support services.
He replaced Maj. Gen. Stephen R. Lyons, who led the unit since 2012. Lyons will be commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command/ Sustainment Center of Excellence and Fort Lee, Va.
Other Army leadership changes:
» Brig. Gen. Joseph E. Whitlock, deputy director at Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., will be a strategic planning and policy mobilization assistant at U.S. Pacific Command at Camp Smith.
» Maj. Gen. Lawrence W. Brock, currently commander of 335th Signal Command at East Point, Ga., will be commander of the 311th Signal Command at Fort Shafter.
» Brig. Gen. Janice M. Haigler, now deputy commander of the 311th Signal Command, will become director of cybersecurity in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Department of the Army.
