Manoa going to Cal Ripken World Series
Matthew Miura’s walk-off single in the sixth inning gave Manoa a 9-8 win over Taylorsville (Utah) in the Cal Ripken 10U Southwest Regional final Saturday in Tooele, Utah.
Manoa defeated Visalia (Calif.) 3-2 in the semifinals earlier Saturday, and now moves on to the Cal Ripken 10U World Series beginning Aug. 9 in Winchester, Va.

Straight shooters at Quarterback Club
A group of marksmen has been invited to speak at the Honolulu Quarterback Club’s luncheon Monday at the Maple Garden Restaurant.
Nadia Hata, former member of the Maryknoll rifle team; Yuji Hata, Pac-Five rifle coach; Gavin M.T. Au, former member of the Leilehua air rifle team; James Esteban, Leilehua boys and girls air rifle team coach; and Paul Davis, rifle coach, USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment, are scheduled to address the club.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at noon. The luncheon cost is $15 per person for members and guests.
