Services for former state Rep. Carroll scheduled

Diana "Mele" Carroll: The governor, House speaker and others express condolences over her death.

Memorial services for former House Rep. Diana “Mele” Carroll have been scheduled for Oahu and Maui.

On Oahu, a service will be held on March 6 at Borthwick Mortuary. A public viewing will be held between 4 to 6 p.m. with a service to follow at 6 to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Another memorial service will be held on Maui at Ballard Family Mortuary located at 440 Ala Makani St. in Kahului on March 15. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. with a service to follow from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A final viewing will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Internment will take place at 3 p.m. at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haiku off Hana Highway.

Carroll died Feb. 18 at age 50.

Carroll, who served the 13th District covering East Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokini, first came to the state House of Representatives in 2005 after being appointed by then-Gov. Linda Lingle.

Carroll served as the chair of the House Committee on Human Service and as a member for the Committees on Health and Housing, before stepping down from her seat on Feb. 1 due to complications from her cancer treatments.
