Former University of Hawaii men’s basketball coach Larry Little died Wednesday in a Las Vegas hospital, according to friends.

The death was also reported by the Shreveport (La.) Times. The cause of death was reported to be complications from a new pacemaker he received Monday.

Little, 75, coached the Rainbow Warriors for nine seasons beginning with the 1976-’77 season. 

He was 103-143 at UH and 203-176 overall, including five years at Centenary where the Gents were ranked as high as No. 17. 

Little took over at UH in the wake of an NCAA investigation that resulted in sanctions, including a two-year probation. He later led the Rainbow Warriors into the Western Athletic Conference in 1979-’80.

After leaving UH Little ran the Hula Bowl for four years before moving to Las Vegas where he has been a realtor.
