3 displaced after blaze destroys home
Honolulu fire officials were investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a house in Whitmore Village on Friday.
Firefighters said the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at 5:36 p.m. Friday, about seven minutes after receiving the alarm.
Fire spokesman Capt. Kevin Mokulehua said there were no injuries related to the fire at 1147 Hoihoi Ave., but the fire displaced three people: a man, a woman and a 7-year-old boy. The Red Cross has been called to assist the displaced residents.
Mokulehua said officials were still determining damage estimates.
Manoa man critically hurt in fall from roof
A 62-year-old man was in critical condition Friday after a fall from a roof in Manoa.
Emergency Medical Services personnel said the man fell about 10 feet and was transported to an emergency room. The incident occurred at about 1:45 p.m. on Hyde Street.
Man charged in try to cash forged check
A 40-year-old man tried to cash a forged business check at a check-cashing business in the Kapalama area Wednesday and was arrested, Honolulu police said.
Tiotala Tilo was charged Thursday with second-degree forgery. His bail was set at $25,000.
