Kauai police arrest shooting suspect in Kilauea
Kauai police arrested a 32-year-old Kilauea man in connection with a shooting at the suspect’s home Sunday.
Officers responding to a 3 p.m. emergency call found a 36-year-old Kilauea man with a single gunshot wound to his arm.
The victim identified the suspect before he was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police initially believed that the suspect had barricaded himself in a shed on the property and closed off Kilauea Road from Titcomb Street to Kahili Quarry Road as a precaution. Upon investigation, it was determined that the suspect had fled the property prior to the police arriving.
Acting on a tip, investigators were later able to make contact with the suspect, who agreed to surrender. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder about 10:30 p.m. on a private property in Kilauea.
