Witnesses stop robbery in separate isle incidents
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy Saturday after a bystander intervened to stop an alleged robbery attempt in the Kalihi area, Honolulu police said.
According to police records, the boy and two others were robbing an 18-year-old man around 8:25 p.m. when a witness intervened.
The alleged offenders fled the scene and only the 16-year-old was located nearby, police said. He was arrested without incident just after 9 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree robbery, according to police records.
A witness also helped to stop a burglary attempt early Sunday morning in the Makakilo area, according to police records.
Police said the witness reported to police around 12:27 a.m. that he saw two men attempting to enter a locked office. Responding officers located the men, ages 34 and 32, about six minutes later and arrested them on suspicion of second-degree burglary.
