Charge in stabbing is reduced to assault
A 42-year-old man was stabbed repeatedly by his girlfriend who used a knife that he used to threatened her, according to court documents.
Brandie Angel Bohol, 29, was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, George Williams Jr., during a argument in Nuuanu on Friday night.
City prosecutors later reduced the charge to second-degree assault — a Class C felony with a maximum jail term of five years — when she was charged Monday. Her preliminary hearing will be held Wednesday in Honolulu District Court. She remains in custody unable to post $50,000 bail.
According to a police affidavit, the couple were arguing when Bohol allegedly stabbed Williams. She was arrested in front of her North School Street home near Liliuokalani Botanical Garden.
Williams suffered an 8-inch cut to his chest and lacerations to his shoulder and left forearm.
He was treated at Kuakini Medical Center, where he was taken after the 10 p.m. incident.
Homeless man is accused of murder
Prosecutors charged a 39-year-old homeless man with second-degree murder Tuesday in the stabbing death of a Waianae man Sunday at Maili Beach Park.
Derrick Hernandez was being held on $1 million bail.
The city Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Frankie Feliciano Jr. of Waianae.
Feliciano, 42, was taken to a hospital early Sunday in critical condition. He died Monday afternoon. The stabbing occurred at about 4:40 a.m. at Maili Beach Park.
Hernandez was arrested on Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Van fire causes $10,500 in damage
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early morning fire in the Mapunapuna area that destroyed a van used by a homeless person and damaged a warehouse that housed an auto repair shop.
Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman, said firefighters extinguished the van fire within two minutes after arriving at the Ahua Street warehouse at 5:05 a.m. by using a water cannon mounted on a truck.
The van fire caused heat damage to the exterior of the warehouse, which houses several businesses including an auto repair business.
Damage was estimated at $10,000 to the warehouse and $500 to the van.
