HPU baseball team wins in 10 innings
Kevin Lenik’s three-run homer in the 10th inning highlighted Hawaii Pacific’s 10-5 victory over Academy of Art in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Wednesday in Oakland, Calif.
Trailing by a run entering the ninth, Tyler Tokunaga led off with a walk and later scored on Chad Bolibol’s sacrifice fly to force extra innings.
For HPU (16-11, 10-9 Pacific West Conference) in the 10th, three singles and an error by Academy of Art gave HPU a 7-5 lead before Lenik’s home run sealed it.
The second game of the doubleheader was postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Thursday.

Silverswords lose 2 in softball
In its first and only mainland road trip this season, Chaminade (7-15, 6-12 PacWest) dropped a softball doubleheader to Azusa Pacific, 3-1 and 8-0 on Wednesday in Azusa, Calif.
In the first game, the Cougars took the lead for good with a two-run fourth inning. In the second game, Azusa Pacific (24-11, 12-8) scored five runs in the third inning on the way to the six-inning, mercy-rule win.

In the first game, the Coyotes took command with a six-run second inning.
Kaylie Drew had three hits for the Vulcans in the opener.
Cal State San Bernardino (18-13) hit two home runs in the second game, which was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.
Jillian Martinez and Kristina Victa each had two hits for UHH (17-15).
UH’s Okamoto is player of the week
Hawaii junior Chas Okamoto was named the Big West Conference’s men’s tennis athlete of the week on Wednesday. It is the second award of his career.
Last week, Okamoto helped clinch the doubles point in a match against San Francisco and aided Hawaii in its victory over Cal Poly.
Brigham Young-Hawaii golfers finish ninth
Brigham Young-Hawaii took ninth place at the Cal Baptist Invitational golf tournament on Tuesday in Menifee, Calif.
Over the three rounds, the Seasiders shot a combined 891.
Mike Klem paced BYUH with a three-round score of 221, good for a share of 22nd place.
