Jury in Deedy retrial sent home until storm is over
The state court judge in the Christopher Deedy murder retrial sent the jurors home for the weekend at noon today ahead of the closing of the courthouse tomorrow, and told them to call the court by 8:30 a.m. next Tuesday for further instructions.
The Judiciary announced today the closing of all of its courthouses and offices on Oahu and Kauai because of the impending arrival of two hurricanes, Iselle and Julio.
It had already closed its courthouses and offices in Hawaii and Maui Counties for today and tomorrow.
State courthouses and all other Judiciary offices are expected to reopen on Monday.
Deedy, a U.S. State Department special agent, is charged with murder in a 2011 shooting inside a Waikiki fast-food restaurant. His first trial ended with a deadlocked jury.
