6 rescued from outrigger canoe in San Francisco Bay
SAN FRANCISCO >> The U.S. Coast Guard in San Francisco rescued six people from the water of a commercial shipping channel after their outrigger canoe began taking on water.
The Coast Guard said Sunday that it was already rescuing a sailing vessel that had capsized when it received a call about the canoe that was between Crissy Field in San Francisco and the Coast Guard’s Golden Gate Station.
The Coast Guard was towing the canoe but temporarily dropped the tow and had to pull all six people out of the water. They were all rescued within 20 minutes and taken to Crissy Field for medical evaluation. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
