Winter storm warning posted for Big Island summits
Snow and winds gusting to more than 100 mph are making travel to the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa dangerous.
A high wind warning continues until 6 p.m. for the summits.
Forecasters say west winds are blowing at 60 to 80 mph, with gusts above 100 mph.
A winter storm warning is also posted for the summits above 11,000 feet until 6 p.m. Up to 6 inches of snow could fall Monday.
Forecasters say extreme hazard conditions on the summits will lead to periods of visibilities near zero and freezing temperatures in the 20s.
A weather system that moved over Oahu Saturday and Sunday has stalled over Maui and the Big Island and will gradually move away.
