OCCC inmate arrested after returning a day late from work furlough
Escape charges will be tacked on to the record of a 27-year-old Oahu Community Corrections inmate who failed to return on time after being out on a work furlough Wednesday.
Jeremy Ray Kawaika Chinen, who is serving time for car theft and second-degree burglary, failed to return at 11 p.m. Wednesday after checking out from Laumaka Work Furlough Center earlier in the day.
He returned Laumaka at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and was arrested for second-degree escape. Inmates assigned to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center, which is located a block away from OCCC, are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
